We are ''South Manchester AOS'' (SMAOS)

Founded back in 1955, SMAOS has grown from strength to strength over the last 54 years.

We are proud to be one of the largest amateur musical theatre groups in the north west and have won a number of regional awards.
We produce a variety of shows annually from small fund-raising concerts to large scale musicals in venues in and around Manchester.

With the dedicated commitment of a wide range of people from greater manchester (and further) which include:
budding thespians, vocalists, dancers, crew, painters, builders, wardrobe, musicians and most important of all; OUR AUDIENCE,
we hope to continue entertaining the public and ourselves for many more years to come.

We are always looking for and interested to hear from people who wish to 'play their part' with us
(whatever area of the arts that may be).

We currently meet & rehearse at East Didsbury (usually twice a week) and perform our productions at the RNCM on
Oxford Rd in Manchester.

We perform one large scale musical in the Spring in the RNCM's 682 capacity Bruntwood Theatre
which boasts one of the largest performance spaces in Manchester.
Our Autumn production is usually a smaller, more intimate show, again at the RNCM in their versatile studio space.
This provides us with the opportunity to experiment with a wider choice of titles and different theatrical styles and set ups.
Between our main productions we keep busy with our ever popular Christmas and Summer concerts.

Outside of rehearsals, the society enjoys a varied social life coordinated by our Social Committee with
themed nights, dinner dances, talent competitions, quizzes, coffee mornings and other varied events.

...are held at the East Didsbury Methodist Church Hall, Parrswood Road, East Didsbury, M20 5QQ.
This is near the 42, 142 and 50 bus routes & East Didsbury Train Station.

Rehearsals come to a close at 10pm on weekdays and 5pm / 5:30pm on Sundays

NB: We ONLY rehearse on Sunday's one month prior to performance.
Auditions for productions usually take place on a Sunday afternoon.
